As requested, here is the tutorial for my Sword Girl signature. The tutorial is written in and for GIMP 2.6, but it can be translated to PS and other programs if you use some creativity. Great guide! I also like that you don't use a render, unlike many guides, which saves a lot of time and adds flexibility.

this is a great tutorial! ^w^ I made a sig following it here: [link]

I did do a few things differently though, just because (in my opinion) it looked better this way. I took out the purple-to-teal gradient map, raised the opacity of the German Flag Smooth gradient map, and added a few techniques of my own, which included more black and more blurring. ;D
But really, it's a great tutorial and helped me out a lot! Thanks!
